Ever wonder how you write reality TV? As soon as I tell people I've written for Nat Geo's Alaska State Troopers and was an Associate Producer on A&E's Emmy-nominated Hoarders, this is the first question out of their mouths.
The answer?
Well, when I was living in Seattle, I spent many of my days plopped down in front of a monitor sifting through 30 hours of video transforming it into a 25 minute script. Some people would call this hell, but for me it was pure joy.
While working in Seattle’s TV industry, I fine tuned my writing chops. But since then, I’ve broadened my skill set.
From scriptwriter, to author to copywriter
I've spent far more time traveling than most responsible adults should--visiting dozens of countries in Asia, Australia and North America.
I've traveled so much that in 2014 I was compelled to write a book of tips to help 20-somethings get abroad. Little did I know that this first work would eventually kick off my author career—leading to 10 published books that have generated over $100,000 in sales within 3 years. How did I accomplish this?
My copywriting skills and marketing savvy have certainly helped. I’ve been employed as a Marketing Consultant, Copywriter and Content Director for multiple agencies. And I’ve invested thousands of dollars in developing my craft, learning from some of the best in the industry—like Carol Tice of Make A Living Writing and Jon Morrow of Smart Blogger.
Today I make a nice passive income from book royalties while I continue to serve my clients’ copywriting, scripting and book publishing needs.
Outside the writing world, I'm an obsessive NBA fanatic and hardcore meditator, practicing meditation and mindfulness for nearly 20 years.
